Why a recruiter runs a charity
In 2023 Nick saw a problem with charities and their tech. They work hard for vulnerable people, but old systems and thin budgets hold them back. He had spent years finding tech people for companies. So he started doing it for charities too, paid for out of tekFinder's fees.
Volunteers have redesigned websites, built STEM programs for kids, sorted out data, and built apps that help vulnerable people reach the services they need.
In September 2026 the fees were helping Dress for Success NSW & ACT, which helps women into work across NSW through its Styling service and online Career Hub. Tech volunteers are rebuilding the Career Hub this year.
What charities say
“There's a hundred times that I've thought to myself, I could put up a job ad. But the reality is you have to vet people. Having tekFoundation take that process out makes it so accessible and I trust the candidates you're sending back.”
“They have been able to very quickly find and recruit volunteers with the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to really dig deep and help where they're needed most.”
“I'm very grateful for the time (the volunteer) is giving us and the way he's helping untangle our technology maze.”
