The role

Agentic AI Technical Manager / Senior Manager

A leading professional services firm is scaling its Agentic AI practice. Client demand is running ahead of the team, so it needs senior technical people who can build AI that works in the real world and then lead others to do the same. It's a genuine build phase: you'll shape how the practice delivers, not just join something already built.

The role

You'll lead the design and delivery of agentic AI solutions for large enterprise and government clients. Many of those clients won't use off-the-shelf, vendor-native tooling, so you'll architect and build custom solutions on open frameworks and take them from concept to production.

  • Lead delivery squads while staying close to the technical detail
  • Design agent, retrieval and tool-integration architectures that stand up in production
  • Shape solutions with senior client stakeholders, and explain the trade-offs in plain language
  • Mentor engineers and set technical standards
  • At Senior Manager level, support pre-sales, solution shaping and growth of the practice

What you'll bring

  • Strong engineering or architecture background, with the depth to hold the technical conversation and know what your team is building
  • Hands-on delivery of AI agents or LLM-based solutions in production, not just proofs of concept
  • Experience building on custom or open stacks, such as LangGraph, MCP or similar, rather than relying on packaged vendor tools
  • The ability to explain complex technical work simply, to anyone from engineers to executives
  • Experience leading engineers, and working directly with clients or senior stakeholders
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency

Good to have

  • Hands-on experience with Claude or the Anthropic ecosystem, or related certification
  • Consulting, forward-deployed or pre-sales background
  • Cloud experience across AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Experience in regulated sectors such as financial services or government

What's on offer

  • Total package of $180k to $300k including super, matched to level and experience. Discretionary bonus on top, not guaranteed
  • Permanent, hybrid
  • Open across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra
  • A short, practical process: an initial conversation, a technical assessment, then a final conversation
